Climate Café: Earth Day Event — Part of Water to Earth Month, Put on by City of Nanaimo and RDN

Sunday, April 19th, 11:15 to 1:00 (followed by optional forest bathing in Bowen Park)

The Beautiful Dance of Climate Mitigation & Adaptation Solutions

Come early to hear an official welcome at 11:15 from an Indigenous Elder and Mayor Leonard Krog in the main auditorium. Then we'll move into an adjacent room to start our Café at 11:30.

-Deanna Fourt, NCAH Board Director, who recently completed her MA in Climate Action Leadership, will open up the Café with a talk on "Miyawaki Mini Forests as a Climate Solution"

-We'll then play with the relationship between climate mitigation and adaptation solutions in an interactive game

-We'll conclude with social time, and for those who can stay past 1:00, we'll venture outside for a walk in Bowen's majestic forest

FREE for all (donations are always much appreciated!). Please register to help us plan :-).

ClimateFuture Film Festival, March 12th, 6:30 pm

Nanaimo Climate Action Hub invites you to join us for ClimateFuture Film Festival! This event features ten award-winning short films from four continents. Explore the human and artistic response to climate change.

​There will be a short intermission halfway through the screening (we will have some free snacks - bring your own water bottle).

​Location details: Building 356, Room 109 at VIU. This room is wheelchair accessible.

​Be sure to give yourself enough time to arrive, park, and find the room as the event will start at 6:30 sharp! Bring your own water.

Climate Café: Have a Merry Circular Christmas!

Join our special December Climate Café where we'll unwrap joyful, sustainable ways to use what we already have. Explore the magic of borrowing and lending within your community, discover surprising items that aren’t as “throw-away” as they seem, and learn about the best resources for repairing everyday things. We’ll also celebrate the charm of thoughtful re-gifting—because the perfect present might already be in your home. Come share ideas, swap stories, and spread sustainable holiday cheer!

Bring a creatively wrapped item from home that you would like to gift to someone else during our white elephant gift exchange. This is sure to be great fun!

A pizza lunch is provided, but feel free to bring a sweet treat to share. And don’t forget your white elephant (re) gift!

Climate Café: Finding Your Climate Sweet Spot

We are looking for enthusiastic activists, organizers and communicators to to help us scale our climate action efforts in Nanaimo. In this café we will engage in an exercise inspired by the work of Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, to help you figure out your role in the climate action work we need to engage here in Nanaimo.

Families Talk Climate, June 21 12:00 - 4:00

This unique free event is designed to bring together the perspectives of seniors, grandparents, folks in mid-life, parents, young adults, and youth for meaningful dialogue about the climate emergency. Children aged 6 and above are welcome! Enjoy a provided lunch, fun activities, and participate in engaging climate dialogue.

Younger children (6-11 years old) will have exciting, age-appropriate outdoor activities led by experienced youth leaders, ensuring everyone has a meaningful and enjoyable experience.
